A weekend in Roses (Costa Brava) and Cap de Creus.

Have been playing around with My Tracks for Google Android this weekend. It’s an application that tracks your location on a map (e.g. during a bike tour or a day of skiing down the slopes or whatever else you can think of) and monitors real time statistics like time, distance, speed and elevation. I didn’t log the whole thing, because I was already on low battery when I left the house, but this should give you a pretty good idea of how it works. Here are the two links to view the route: [ Google Maps | Google Earth ]. FYI, I had my Nexus One almost the whole time in my pocket. For that I’m pretty surprised with the resulting accuracy of my track.

My Tracks doesn’t support adding pictures, yet, but you can easily do that with Google’s My Maps Editor for Android. And other than playing around with new mobile technology all day long I was also able to enjoy another beautiful “winter” day in Barcelona (see pictures below).

Sunshine, great people and lot of snow. I’m very positively surprised by Andorra. Wouldn’t have thought that there is such good skiing here in the Pyrenees.

 

Hiking & biking weekend in Horta de Sant Joan (Terra Alta) [map] in the South West of Catalonia at the border to Aragón. Biking down an old railroad track of the Spanish civil war and two hikes in a gorgeous landscape. One at dusk with a beautiful sunset, the other one during the day with a crowd of hungry vultures circling above our heads. Great wines, a lot of Vermouth and plenty of delicious local food.

Hiking Montserrat [map] with a very fun group of people and catching a glimpse of the Black Virgin in the Monestir de Montserrat.

Another session of mushroom hunting in the Collsacabra mountains of Catalunya [map] with my friends Pascual from Argentina and Jordi and his family. We also visited Anigami, an outdoor- and adventure company owned by some of their friends and had quite some fun there. All in all another great weekend in España, or better Catalunya – not to upset anyone

A weekend of Celtic music, collecting mushrooms, hiking and other adventures in the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park [map] in the North of Catalunya, very close to the border of Andorra.
